Drilling a disposal well for well-known environmental company. It’s a new experience for me, who says that after nine years as a wellsite geologist you won’t learn new things. Learning more about estimating permeability based on rock cuttings and open hole wireline logs. Also, my first time drilling into Precambrian rock, more than 550 million years old.

One thing that was somewhat expected was the lack of representation of certain lithologies in sample, particularly salt beds. My thoughts are that much of it was either worn to dust at the drill bit and/or dissolved in the sample wash.
